The Wedding Secret

As most of you know, amidst the craziness of "Wedding Season 2017", I was lucky enough to be able to squeeze in my own Wedding last summer. My Husband, Craig and I chose to tie the knot on Saturday the 3rd of June 2017 at Airth Castle Hotel & Spa.

Last month I sat down with the lovely Poppy from The Wedding Secret to reminisce about our special day. Click here to read the full article and hear from some of our amazing suppliers.

We chose Airth Castle to host our Wedding as it really is an amazing all round venue. Through my job, I am very lucky to have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful Castles in Scotland, but I immediately fell in love with Airth Castle. The Wallace Suite in the Castle was perfect for our formal ceremony and the Dunmore Suite in the main hotel complemented our more relaxed reception. I chose white cowl back chair hoods to tie in with the Bridesmaids dresses in the ceremony room, and rose gold sequin chair hoods, table runners and candelabras in the reception room. The little details were really important to me and it is one of the things I hope stood out during our special day.

The theme for our Wedding was classic, vintage romance, mixed with modern glamour. I took a lot of inspiration from the 1920's Great Gatsby era. My dress was one of the first things I envisioned when planning my Wedding and I searched high and low for my perfect gown. When I eventually found it, I knew it was "the one". The bodice was hand beaded with over 20,000 crystals in true 1920's style and teamed with a very modern, drop waist, trumpet skirt with an exaggerated train. That was truly where my vision started. I then teamed the dress with a bespoke, custom made, crystal and tulle belt made by the fabulous designers at Fabricated Bridal Alterations, Glasgow. From there, I picked out crystal encrusted Jenny Packham shoes, a vintage inspired hair vine from Harvey Nichols and Vivienne Westwood drop earrings.

As for the Bridesmaids, I knew I wanted them to be very glamorous and when I saw the Rose gold beaded gowns from Debut, I picked them up straight away. They featured a cowl back and side split which was perfect for my glamorous girls. I styled them both with Carvela shoes, rose gold and pearl hair combs and Ted Baker accessories.

Both of my Daughters wore peach Monsoon flower girl dresses, adorned with lace cap sleeves and beaded flowers. As my bridesmaids were very modern, I really wanted the girls to contrast and their vintage lace dresses certainly did that.

My husband Craig will tell you himself that he had little to no involvement in the planning stage so I left his kilt choice completely up to him. It was important to him to chose something a bit different that tied in with the whole theme of the day and I was delighted when he chose the pale blue, Hollyrood Tweed. It really is a stunning kilt and it was great to see all 21 of his Wedding party showing up in true Scottish style wearing the same one.
